Description of Project:
Located on the southern edge of the Cal State University, Northridge campus, the Valley Performing Arts Center hosts a range of performances — from orchestra to opera, theater and Broadway shows, dance, film, lectures, and student productions. The 163,000-square-foot facility includes a 1,600-seat multi-purpose concert hall, a black box theater, classrooms, a 150-seat lecture room, rehearsal space and a broadcast facility for public radio. The design features a radial raised floor for stadium seating, sub-floor cast-in-place vaults and ducting for the heating and air-conditioning systems. Klorman Construction utilized their in-house computer 3-D modeling and constructability program to assist in the difficult complex construction coordination.
